Who are daum electronic?
After 16 successful years producing exercise machines daum electronic have made the move outside. In bringing their know-how and experience from the production of exercise machines to a new generation of bikes, designed and manufactured by daum in Germany, they are breaking exciting new ground. Daum pedelecs can be used to improve fitness as well as for recreational cycling; they are equipped with a powerful electric motor that provides pedalling assistance for every situation. The bicycles feature premium components from well-known manufacturers and have the intelligence, thanks to the electronic dashboard, to help make your riding experience as pleasurable as possible.
OK, so what's a Pedelec then?
Pedelec is short for "Pedal Electric Cycling"
A Pedelec is a bike with electrically assisted pedalling and the following characteristics:
- Pedelecs combine a bike with an electric motor, a rechargeable battery, control electronics, and sensors for recognising pedal movements.
- Pedelecs are considered bikes and may be used without a driving licence and insurance
- A helmet is not required but we do recommend wearing a bicycle helmet
- All pedelecs sold in the EU must comply with the DIN EN 15194 guideline
- While pedalling pedelecs are motor assisted up to a maximum of 15 mph (25 km/h)
Fitness
Daum pedelecs combine premium fitness training with pure cycling fun by bringing daum’s proven exercise machine technology to the road. User-definable settings allow the rider to control their cycling experience and measure their improving endurance and fitness. Data such as heart rate, ride time, speed and distance can be stored on an SD card, reviewed, and evaluated. The technology is ideal not just for therapeutic purposes; health conscious riders can pedal for preset distances under the guidance of the tour management system and check their individual health readings. Safety
To give the rider the utmost reassurance and confidence all our pedelecs are equipped with the daum safety pack. Our high standards apply to all aspects of the bikes: all components are assembled in the daum factory according to the strictest and latest DIN standards.Our in-house developed dashboard software controls everyday safety. The motor itself is powered by a rechargeable battery tested for safety. When the brakes are activated the motor will switch off immediately. Moreover, both the pedelec and the dashboard are equipped with PIN controlled theft protection. In case of emergency the bicycle can be traced anywhere via position data transmission through SMS. Comfort
Thanks to our outstanding technology, daum pedelecs make you feel you are always pedalling with a tailwind. You can adjust the 3-stage drive assistance by means of the control buttons conveniently located on the handlebar, and thus enjoy exactly the right level of assistance, while the integrated tour management system shows your directions on the display. Cycle routes are available for internet download , e.g. from
www.GPSies.com and can be loaded onto the dashboard by means of the SD card. Alternatively, your own routes can be uploaded to the server. A 36V rechargeable battery powers the motor, enabling you to travel up to 80 km (50 miles) on a single charge. The battery is fully recharged after only 3 hours charging time, ready for the next relaxed ride.
